- Unarmed Guards
- Unarmed guards who renew a registration after January 1, 2023, will need to complete a 2-hour refresher training from a certified trainer.
- Unarmed guards working for ANY PSO will no longer be allowed to carry any kind of weapon after January 1, 2023
- Unarmed guards working at an establishment that serves alcohol for on-premises consumption will need to complete additional trainings within 15 days of working at that establishment
- This includes training in CPR, first aid, de-escalation, and safe and proper restraint training.
- These new trainings can be completed through a certified trainer (check our approved certified trainer list to see if your trainer is certified to provide these trainings: https://www.tn.gov/commerce/regboards/pps/licensee-applicant-resources/certified-training.html) OR through an approved provider, such as the American Red Cross.
- Unarmed guards who are required to have the additional trainings listed above will also need to complete refresher trainings in these subjects as part of their renewal application
- Unarmed guards not required to have these additional trainings may still submit proof of completion of these trainings to have proof of these trainings added to their file/card
- Unarmed guards who are already registered and need to add the classifications/new trainings to their card and file will need to complete a specific application to “add classifications” to their card
