What is an Authorized User?

The Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance allows licensees to grant another person access to their CORE account through the Authorized User feature. This allows someone you trust to help manage licensing transactions on your behalf.

Common examples of authorized users include office managers, assistants, or supervisors who help manage licensing requirements or renewals.

How to Add an Authorized User

To grant access to someone:

  • 1. Sign in to your CORE account at https://core.tn.gov
  • 2. Select Authorized Users.
  • 3. Click "Add" on the Authorized Users Overview screen.
  • 4. Enter the authorized user's email address. Note that an authorized user must create their own CORE account. Their email address will serve as their username when registering. Multiple authorized users can be added to a license.
  • 5. Select Next
  • 6. Check the box next to each license you want to share.
  • 7. Select Finish

The request will remain pending until the authorized user accepts or rejects it. You will receive an email confirming their decision.

Accepting or Rejecting Authorized Access

If someone requests to add you as an authorized user:

  • 1. Sign in to your CORE account at https://core.tn.gov
  • 2. Select Authorized Users.
  • 3. Navigate to Incoming Requests.
  • 4. Choose the appropriate option to either accept or reject the request.
  • 5. Select OK to confirm.

The license holder will receive an email notification after you respond.

What Authorized Users Can Do

Authorized users can perform most license-related transactions on the licensee's behalf, including:

  • Renewing a license
  • Submitting applications or forms tied to the license
  • Making payments

Both the license holder and the authorized user will receive confirmation emails for submitted transactions and payments.

Limitations: Authorized users cannot apply for a new license for you. They can only be added after a license already exists on your account.

How to Remove an Authorized User

Either the license holder or the authorized user can remove access. To remove an authorized user:

  • 1. Sign in to your CORE account at https://core.tn.gov
  • 2. Select Authorized Users.
  • 3. Locate the user in the Authorized Users Overview screen.
  • 4. Select the trash can icon under Actions.
  • 5. Confirm the deletion.
