The Attorney General’s Office represents state agencies and cannot give legal advice or represent private individuals.  When the Attorney General’s Office takes formal action under the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, it is protecting the commercial marketplace rather than representing individual consumers.   The goal of the Division of Consumer Affairs is to assist consumers in resolving their complaints regarding specific businesses, however, it too does not offer legal advice.  If you need individual legal assistance, consider contacting a private attorney, your local Legal Aid office, or other organizations that may offer legal guidance.
