ACTIVE Renewal

2. Continuing Education

Every licensee must obtain the equivalent of 30 PDH’s per biennial renewal
period. PDH’s may be obtained anytime during the applicable renewal period.  If a licensee
exceeds the biennial requirement in any renewal period, a maximum of fifteen 15 PDH’s
may be carried forward to the subsequent renewal period.

RULES

  • Continuing Education is on an Audit System no certificates need to be submitted during renewal
    • 2 PDHs must focus on surveying ethics and standards of practice
    • 1 PDH Surveying Ethics
  •  One (1) PDH TENNESSEE Standards of Practice (If Applicable)

Tennessee standards class is required if the person is ONLY licensed in Tennessee. If licensed in another jurisdiction we will accept Standards of Practice courses from the home state. 

  • Land Surveyors may NOT take the same course name, provider, and instructor within two renewal cycles. Must skip a cycle. 
  • If a licensee is in the initial one (1) year period of active registration they will not be required to complete any PHDs.  

III. Fee, $280

RETIRED Renewal 

While in a Retired Status, licensees are not required to renew.

  • There is no application or fee. 

EXPIRED GRACE

Licensees shall be subject to late renewal for a period of one 1 year following their expiration date by payment of the renewal fee. A penalty in the amount of $20.00 will be owed for each month or fraction which elapses before payment is received.

Any person whose registration has expired for more than one (1) year shall make an application for registration; provided, that the board may, in its discretion, waive any further examination of such an applicant.

REINSTATEMENT 

An inactive or retired registrant seeking to reinstate an inactive or retired registration of one year or more must submit a request in writing to the board.

0820-05-.07 REINSTATEMENT TO ACTIVE REGISTRATION.  (1)  An inactive or retired registrant seeking to reinstate an inactive or retired registration of one (1) year or more must submit a request in writing to the Board with a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and must satisfy one (1) of the following requirements:  (a)  Satisfaction of the biennial PDH requirement multiplied by the number of years of inactive or retired status up to a maximum of thirty (30) PDH’s; or  (b)  Successful completion of the Tennessee State Specific Land Surveying examination within one (1) year immediately prior to application for reinstatement.  (2) An inactive or retired registrant seeking to reinstate an inactive or retired registration of less than two (2) years must meet the biennial PDH requirement.
