How to Apply: Bid Caller Auctioneer

Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-19-101(4) defines a bid caller auctioneer as an individual who, for compensation, or valuable consideration, or otherwise, is hired by a principal auctioneer, public automobile auction, or public automobile auctioneer to solicit bids for the purchase of goods at an auction.

Bid caller auctioneers cannot execute an auction contract to sell goods, take possession of seller assets, or take possession of auction proceeds as a bid caller auctioneer or hold themselves out to others as a principal auctioneer or public automobile auctioneer. If a bid caller auctioneer does any of the above-mentioned he or she may have their license suspended, revoked, or denied.

Bid callers must be 18 years or older.

a. Sixteen (16) hours of classroom or online instruction on the basic fundamentals of auctioneering at an auction school accredited by the commission.

Auction chant instruction is optional, but cannot be completed online nor does this education count toward the required fundamentals of auctioneering requirement.
