Private Investigator Apprentice
This license is not required. Apprenticeships are intended to serve as a learning process. Sponsors (company) shall assume a training status by providing direction and control of the apprentice. Apprentice status shall be limited to six (6) months and applicants are only eligible for one (1) apprenticeship.
Applicants for a Tennessee Private Investigator Apprentice Registration must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years old, and must be affiliated/sponsored by a Private Investigation Company.

d. Criminal History Information (If Applicable)
All information on criminal charges/arrests must be fully disclosed. Explanations and final court dispositions must be submitted with your application. Please refer to Administrative Rules 1175-01-.04 (5), (6), (7), (8) and (9) for information regarding criminal convictions and other circumstances that may disqualify an applicant. If you answer "Yes" to the arrest questions you must complete a Criminal Charge Reporting Form for each arrest or charge: (link not available yet). Your application will not be processed if you have pending criminal charges/court dates.

- Provide three (3) credit references from lending institutions or business firms with whom a credit record has been established. The references must be original documents from the lending institution, must be in standard business letter form, and must appear on the institution’s letterhead.
d. Letter of Good Standing
- A “letter of good standing” is required from each jurisdiction for which the applicant holds a license or registration. The “letter of good standing” must detail how the applicant qualified for the license or registration, the date on which the license or registration was issued and the current license or registration status. A statement regarding any disciplinary action taken against the license or registration in any applicable jurisdiction is also required.

Must document two thousand (2,000) hours of compensated, verifiable investigative experience satisfactory to the Commission or has one (1) year of applicable, related experience or education in a related area of study approved by the Commission in order to qualify for the license.

Any application which lacks required information or reflects a failure to meet any requirement for registration will be held in a "pending" status. Failure to respond to any written notification within the stated timeframe will result in the closure of the application.
