How to Apply - Alarm Contract Company

Applicants must submit an application online at core.tn.gov and a $500 initial license fee along with proof that the applicant met the following requirements:

I. "Initial Application for Tennessee Alarm Systems Contractor Certification" Application (CORE) 

II. Requirements 

1. You must answer each question on the application.

2. Designated Qualifying Agent: You must have a Designated Qualifying Agent who is applying for, or licensed in, the same alarm classifications the company intends to engage in.

3. Physical Office Location: You must report the actual, physical office location of your alarm contracting business. Mail drop box addresses are not acceptable. The physical address must match the address on your city and/or county business tax licenses and certificate of insurance. You must have a valid mail receptacle at the office location certified by this office, or provide a valid mailing address.

4. Certificate of Insurance: A certificate of insurance must be submitted evidencing proof of coverage of general liability insurance in compliance with Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-32-315.

5. City and County Business Licenses or Permits: You must submit photocopies of City and County Business Licenses for the business location that you plan to certify. Should the city and/or county where your office is located not require such business license, a statement from the city or county regarding this requirement must be submitted.

6. Ownership Information: You must provide information on any and all persons, firms, associations, corporations, or other entities who own or control a ten percent (10%) or greater interest in the applicant company. Any individual, firm, or business owning or controlling ten percent (10%) or greater interest in the applicant may require TBI/FBI background checks and other information as deemed necessary.

III. Required Attachments 

1. Roster of Employees: In accordance with Administrative Rule 0090-1-.07(11) you must submit a list of all employees at this location that are required to be licensed or registered. This list must be signed by the Owner and/or Designated Qualifying Agent.

2. City and County Business Licenses or Permits: You must submit photocopies of City and County Business Licenses for the business location that you are applying to certify. Should the city and/or county where your office is located not require such business license, a statement from the city or county regarding this requirement must be submitted.

3. Certificate of Insurance: A certificate of insurance must be submitted evidencing proof of coverage of general liability insurance in compliance with Tenn. Code Ann. § 62-32-315.

a. One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) because of bodily injury or death of one (1) person as a result of the negligent act or acts of the principal insured or the principal insured's agents, operating in the course and scope of the agents' employment;

b. Subject to the limit for one (1) person, three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) because of bodily injury or death of two (2) or more persons as the result of the negligent act or acts of the principal insured or the principal insured's agent operating in the course and scope of the agent's agency; and

c. One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) because of injury to or destruction of property in the course and scope of the agent's agency.  

IV. Fee, $500

1. There will be an additional certification fee of $50 per classification applied for. An approval notice requesting the required $50.00 certification fee, in each classification applied for, will be forwarded once all requirements have been met.
