Obtaining Both a Cosmetology and Barber License

An applicant may request to sit for the Cosmetology or Master Barber exam using the Waiver Request if the applicant has held a Cosmetology or Master Barber license for a minimum of five continuous years in lieu of completing 300 school hours designated for Cosmetologists or Master Barbers seeking to obtain a license in the other profession. If they don’t have the five years then they will have to take the 300 hours of school before testing and applying. The Board will make a final decision to either approve or deny this request.
